Access Governance

COMPOSITION

Who Sits on the Council

The Surgeon Governance Council comprises 9–12 members appointed for staggered two-year terms. The composition is designed to reflect the breadth of the specialty while ensuring methodological rigor.

  • 60% Academic Surgeons — fellowship-trained spine surgeons at major academic medical centers
  • 30% Private Practice — high-volume community spine surgeons bringing real-world perspective
  • 10% Methodologists & Ethicists — biostatisticians, AI researchers, and clinical ethicists

The council meets quarterly with ad-hoc sessions as needed. Members serve in a compensated advisory capacity with documented conflict-of-interest disclosures.
